(1) Danube Plain – the largest region, flat fertile land ideal for international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
(2) Black Sea – influenced by the sea’s moderating effect, known for aromatic whites like Muscat Ottonel and the native Dimyat.
(3) Rose Valley – nestled between the Balkan and Sredna Gora mountains, famous for the indigenous Mavrud and Red Misket.
(4) Thracian Valley – the warmest and most prestigious region, home to Bulgaria’s iconic Mavrud grape and increasingly Syrah.
(5) Struma Valley – the smallest region, known almost exclusively for the rare native Melnik grape varieties.
